Having a balance in your life

Screen Shot 2018-06-25 at 2.31.57 PMTo start off what is balance? If you searched on the internet or in a dictionary, you would find that the word balance means an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.

I know, we have many things going on in our life like our job, career, family, friends, events, duties and so much more. Sometimes we want to dedicate time to all these things but time isn’t enough. So what happens is that we get really into our highest priorities  (which is good) but we leave out other things that are also important to us. This can get hard because we have so many important things that we need to do but we loose balance. And as the definition said balance is an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.

In my personal experience this happened: If you didn’t know, I am a 15 year old girl living in Guatemala. I go to school, I have an amazing family that love and care about me, friends that support me, a career in which I am passionate about, a healthy lifestyle which matters to me and so much more. In September 2017, I made a change in my life. And that was that I switched schools. I moved to a smaller school with smaller classes of kids (12) and by that I started to isolate myself from my friends at my other school. Instead I stayed home on Fridays to work or just spend time by myself which is good to do sometimes. But what I hadn’t realized is that there are also days when its good to hang out with friends. This is important because you get to keep in contact with them and it makes you a more sociable person. This was my example because I was dedicating an excessive amount to working that that was becoming the only thing I was doing.I forgot that I was supposed to be having fun, doing and trying out so much more.

 

It can be a different situation to each person, but my point here is that we can do anything we want to but by having a balance at the same time to do other things. I am going to leave you with — tips to help you maintain a balanced life in anything that you do. Remember we can sometimes get a little unsteady because we have many things going on in our lives, but we can always find space to do other things.

 

  1. Be honest to yourself 
  2. Don’t be closed in doing only one thing
  3. Try to be organised
  4. Have fun, do things you love
  5. Don’t get obsessed, but work hard
  6. Make time for yourself and for others
