Exactly one year ago I took one of the best trips of my life. It was full of laughter, memories, countess hours of walking, sightseeing, mouthwatering food and last but not least bonding. This was a trip like no other, in which I got to spend with really special people who are in my life. This was my mom, my friend and her mom. Together we spent 3 weeks visiting Paris, London and Spain. Throughout the trip there were many special moments, but one of them sticked out the most to me. And that is when I realized how in the most unexpected of times, are the moments in which the most special memories are made.
This happened in Paris the day we went on a ferri to see the city over the Seine River. Me and my mom woke up late and because of that we didn’t have breakfast. If we stopped for breakfast it would be 90% that we would miss the tour on the ferri. So what we did is that my mom grabbed some cash and we went as fast as we could to the ferri station. On the way we could help our stomachs anymore, so we stooped in the corner shop were a butcher attended us. As soon as we stepped into the store, our stomachs began biting our bodies. The small was so strong and heavenly. There were all sorts of cheeses and hams. Without forgetting that we still had the tour on the ferri we told the butcher to give us the best bread, hams and cheeses that he considered his favorites. In less than ten minutes he handed us the brown paper bag filled with ham, cheese and bread.
The rest of the way we ran to the ferri stop were we met my friend and her mom. Thank goodness we got there on time! When we got to the ferri we went to the 2nd floor of te bus were there was no roof and it was all fresh cold air running through your face, and a little bit of sunshine reflecting in the waters of the Seine. The tour began and we pulled out the brown paper bag. Uncertain of what was inside, we unpacked the 3 hams, 5 cheese, jams and the baguette. We were not certain of the cheeses flavors the man had chosen for us, but we knew in the instant that the four of us took the first bite of each cheese that there was nothing better than that moment. As we tried the variety of hams, cheeses, bread and jams. We identified what he gave us. Prosciutto and Bayonne were the hams. Strawberry, orange and lavender jams, truffle, goat cheese, etc.
It was in that moment when I realized that I was never going to forget this experience. It had come in the most unexpected, simple way possible. And really those moments are with us all the time. We just have to look for them and find meaning in all of the things we do.
